GENERATION
You
had two parents and each of them had two parents and they had a total
of four parents. Before that, you had eight great-grand parents, sixteen
great-great-grandparents, thirty-two great-great-great-grandparents. If
you pursue that line and allow an average of 25 years between
generations that would simply mean that 500 years ago there were
1,048,576 people on earth involved in the production of you.

Now if you
calculate the average investment of time in you which has been expended
by your parents, teachers, the farmers who raised the food you’ve eaten,
and the workers who produced the automobiles you’ve ridden in, the
numbers increase even more. Now add the school, churches, office
building. Grocery and department stores etc. in which you work and
trade, combined with the workmen who paved the street, the doctors
who’ve cared for you the dentists who’ve provided your dental care,
authors who wrote books you’ve studied and read – the figures really get
to be impressive. When you consider this for a moment, you are the only
one who can use the education and ability which all these people have
contributed to you. You’ve got to make their investment pay off.
